Why am I running for Vermont State Representative?

I’m running for State Representative because I want to represent the talents, skills, needs, and desires of my community. None of us should have to be an expert on all things to be part of our democracy. I want us all to commit to the survival of our representative democracy together. I want for every one of us that seeks a representative office to be educated by those that they represent.

I’d like to begin my campaign with one fundamental idea. “Educate to legislate.” The people of Weathersfield, Cavendish, and Baltimore have life experiences that I do not. Talk to me, teach me about your area of expertise, and tell me precisely how Montpelier and I can do better by you. This community is already great. It is time to make a bigger tent, a more effective tent.

I’d love your support in the primary on August 13 and then the general election on November 5. But more importantly, I’ll need 15 minutes of your time and experience devoted to the notion of “educate to legislate.”

About Mark

Mark is an eighteen-year resident of Perkinsville, having raised a family in our public schools and community arts organizations. Employed as a custom, fine furniture craftsman, salesman, and designer, Mark has decided to add Montpelier and local politics to the list of designs he feels need tweaking.

Five consecutive terms on the Weathersfield School Board and recent political dysfunction at the state level reveal the need for increased involvement from all those who wish to see our communities thrive. A lifetime of crafting custom furnishings, housing, arena installations, and scenery for television, theatre, film, opera, and local school drama productions has given him vast experience working with large groups of varied needs, skill sets, visions, and egos.

In an ever-changing world, Mark would love the opportunity to consider our collective strengths, expertise, and expectations to build our best version of ourselves here in Baltimore, Cavendish, and Weathersfield.
